Fire Safety

The MIS Fire Safety Consultancy:

Fire Risk Assessments are a requirement of law under the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005, commonly referred to as the RRO, and since 1st October 2006 all non-domestic premises employing 5 or more people must have a written Fire Risk Assessment.

The RRO is based on risk assessment and requires the Responsible Person to carryout a fire risk assessment of the building to identify the fire hazards and the actions needed to eliminate, reduce or control the risk of those hazards to as low as reasonably practicable.

MIS Environmental Ltd Fire Risk Assessors are highly qualified and experienced in the delivery of such inspections, working with you to understand your business process, whilst minimising risk.

The Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order consolidates and replaces all UK Fire Legislation into a single and comprehensive Law.

Carrying out a Fire Risk Assessment is the first step in reducing the risk of Fire and its worth considering that 70% of businesses affected by fire never re-open. Following the initial Fire Risk Assessment and implementation of its subsequent findings, Fire Risk Assessments need only be reviewed periodically or when significant changes have taken place to warrant another survey.

The Fire Risk Assessment covers a number of key elements, some of which are:

  • Fire Hazards
  • People at Risk from Fire
  • Fire Prevention
  • Flammable Liquids and Gasses ( Storage and Handling)
  • Good Housekeeping
  • Checking the Means of Escape
  • Signs and Notices
  • Fire Detection Systems
  • Smoke Control
  • Escape Lighting
  • Emergency Procedures
  • Training, Testing and Maintenance
